Lucas França is a Brazilian theatre director, performer and researcher based in Portugal. Directing sits at the centre of his practice, which develops across theatre, performance and artistic research.

Since 2016, his work has developed through processes that often take the city and encounters with others as their point of departure. Walking, drifting, conversations, actions in public space, documentary and autobiographical materials, recordings and participatory situations become material for the creation of dramaturgies, performances and theatre works.

In his recent work, questions of body, city and memory intersect with experiences of migration, identity and coexistence, alongside critical reflections on colonial legacies and on the ways histories, territories and memories are constructed, contested and shared.

He holds an MA in Theatre, specialising in Directing, from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema in Lisbon, and a degree in Art-Theatre from Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in São Paulo.
